Our Best Pick& & & & & -& & Our Music Picks& -& & & Our Non Music Picks
The Hold Steady and Drive By Truckers at the Orpheum Theatre on Sunday: Two headliners for the price of one! The band's are rotating closing duties on the tour, and it looks like Boston is in line for a Hold Steady night. Nothing wrong with that from our point of view! Catch songs from Stay Positive and Brighter Than Creation's Dark, respectively. Tickets are $25 to $27.50.
AC/DC at the TD Banknorth Garden on Sunday: Yes, they're old, and yes, tickets are going for this sold out gig are going for over $300 online, but it would be really cool to see the Aussie hard rockers, especially now that they have their swagger back. That won't last forever, so take your chance now.
Friday
Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers at the Paradise Rock Club: The Northhampton native closes out his two-night stand in the big city in celebration of his band's& five year anniversary. Pat McGee will open the sold out show with a solo acoustic set.
Midatlantic at the Middle East Upstairs: See the artists formerly known as The Bleedin Bleedins for just $10 in the cozy confines of the Middle East's upper room. Also, check out our feature on the local band here. Provocateur top the bill while The Daily Pravda and The Honors offer support.
Usher at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods (CT): Looking for something a bit more glamorous, glitzy, and expensive? Dance, drink, and gamble the night away down in CT with his "One Night Only: Ladies Only" tour in support of his latest album, Here I Stand. Remember, though, this is for the ladies only.
U-Melt, State Your Mind at Bill's Bar: If jam bands are your thing, this should be an easy pick. Bob Weir & RatDog at the Orpheum Theatre:& You know what you are going to get when the Grateful Dead guitarist comes to town. So take the long strange trip with him& and his band as they take on a range of covers, some originials, and of course, the Dead.& Tickets are $31.25 to $36.35.
Sunday
The Bacon Brothers at Showcase Live!: This is our sleeper pick of the week, because you'll never expect how good it actually is. Not only can Kevin and Michael Bacon sing, write songs, and play guitar, but they can do all three of those things a lot better than a lot of other bands. Give it a shot for $25, and click here to read our feature on the band.
The Gutter Twins at the Paradise Rock Club: Brothers in a darker, depressing, less related sort of way, Mark Lanegan and Greg Dulli rocked this place the last time around, and there's nothing to suggest that they won't do exactly the same thing this time. Tickets are $16.
